Discover the rich and intricate world of Boro Stitching, a traditional Japanese textile technique renowned for its beauty, history and sustainability. In this 5-hour course you will embark on a creative journey exploring the art of Boro stitching and its profound cultural significance and walk away with a beautiful handmade scarf. Boro , which translates to ?rags? or ?tatters: originated in Japan during the Edo Period (1609- 1868) as a means of mending and repurposing textiles in rural farming communities. Its simple stitches bring function and beauty to the garment. Each textile tells a story ? whether it is the scraps of fabrics that are used for the patches, or the stitches chosen for the repair.
