Class Description: In this class you will be making the Oxbow Tote Bag, installing a zipper, rivets (optional) d-rings and
strap slider and a snap (optional). We will be sewing through two layers.

Supply List
? Oxbow Tote patten (purchase before class – There is prework involved, cutting out fabric and fusing the
interfacing on.
? See pattern for fabric requirements. There are several options for the types of fabric combined with the different
interfacing. I used flex foam (soft and stable or bosal work just as well). You can also opt for 2 layers of batting. Her
video goes over all the combinations of fabric and batting.
? General sewing supplies
? Cut n’ Press or wool mat (small ironing surface)
? Water soluble pen, erasable or frixion pen.
? Polyester thread (stronger than cotton, best for bags) that matches exterior and lining.
? Rotary cutter – a new sharp blade is helpful.
? Size 14 or 16 denim needle or Microtex needle
? Small iron
? Small Scissors.
? Medium size cutting mat.
? Sewing machine with bobbins that will sew through two layers of foam.
? Good quality sharp pins and/or wonder clips.
? Pins that will be going through the foam
? Seam ripper, seam gauge (optional)
? Point turner (optional)
? Pinking shears (optional)
Fabric

? Exterior fabric (Canvas, Cotton-Linen or Cotton-Flax or quilting cotton) see pattern.
? Lining fabric (Quilting cotton) see pattern.
? Accent fabric (see pattern)
? SF 101 (2-21/4 yards)
Foam Stabilizer or Fusible fleece (Pellon 987F 44” or By Annie’s or Bosal 58 “wide) ½ yard
? 7” x 19” Pellon Peltex 72F
? Zipper for top closure (see pattern)
? Cotton webbing 1.5 “wide 4 yards (PQW has natural and black webbing in stock)
? (2) 1-inch-wide D-rings and (1) 1 ½ “strap slider and (2) 1 ½ swivel snaps {Kits available at PQW)
? Optional metal snap (available at PQW)

Pre- class instructions
? Cut all fabric. Complete steps under “Prepare” heading, numbers 1-4 (fusing interfacing and transfer markings
? And quilt fabric if desired.
We will be taking a 30 min lunch break. There is a fridge and microwave available if you want to bring lunch or quick and
easy take-out nearby!
