Class Description: In this class you will be learning how to make the Violet Backpack NOTE: Pre-work required.
Supply List
- Violet Backpack pattern by Knot and Thread (purchase before class – There is prework involved, printing labels and templates, all fabric to be quilted and cut out as well prior to coming to class.
- See pattern for fabric requirements and notions. Bring the following pieces quilted and cut to class: Backpack front, Backpack back, front zipper pocket, zipper strips, and gusset strip.
(2 )1 inch rectangle rings,
(2) 1 inch strap adjusters, zippers, handle webbing 2 ¼ yards for toddler or 3 yards adult (decorative or polypro)
ByAnnies Soft and Stable ½ yard package (18 x 58)
General sewing supplies
- Zipper foot
- Cut n’ Press or wool mat (small ironing surface)
- Water soluble, air erasable pen or tailor’s chalk
- Polyester thread (stronger than cotton, best for bags) that matches the exterior and lining.
- Rotary cutter – a new sharp blade is helpful
- Size 14 topstitch needle, or Microtex needle
- Small iron
- Small Scissors for clipping curves
- Medium size cutting mat
- Sewing machine that will sew through multiple layers of soft and stable
- Good quality sharp pins and/or wonder clips
- Washi tape or painters’ tape to mark ½ inch seam allowance.
- Seam ripper, seam gauge (optional)
- Tube turner
- Large safety pin
- Point turner (optional)
- Apply interfacing as instructed in pattern to exterior fabric.

We will be taking a 30 min lunch break. There is a fridge and microwave available if you want to bring lunch or quick and easy take out nearby!
