Description: Come and make this colorful scrappy quilt!! It is an applique quilt, so no curved piecing. You can hand applique (freezer paper method-stitch by hand or by machine) or raw edge applique – your choice!
Supplies needed for the class:
- Orange Peel quilt pattern by Ladybug Quilt Studio
- Background & border strips: 20 fat quarters
- Orange Peels & border strips: (80) ¼ yard of coordinated fabrics or for extra scrappy (80) 5” x 10” for orange peels and (224) 1½” x 6” strips (so check your scraps)
- Inner Border: ¼ yard
- Outer Border: left over background & Orange Peel fabric
- Corner Squares: Fat quarter
- Reynolds Freezer paper (hand or machine finished applique)
- Roxanne’s Glue Baste it (hand or machine finished applique)
- Small paint brush (hand or machine finished applique)
- Liquid starch (use your favorite) (hand or machine finished applique)
- Small cup to put starch in (hand or machine finished applique)
- Stiletto (hand or machine finished applique)
- Fusible- 7½ yards of 17” wide double sided fusible (raw edge applique)
- Matching thread for applique
- Neutral thread for piecing
- Paper scissors
- Fabric scissors
- Iron and ironing surface (if using a wool mat, please cover it with cotton to protect it from starch)
General Supplies you will need:
- Sewing machine in good working order: cleaned, oiled & a new needle.
- Rotary cutter, ruler, cutting mat, small iron, and ironing mat.
· Basic Sewing Supplies - Anything else you commonly use for a day of sewing! (Thread, seam ripper, pins, sewing machine needles, etc.)
BEFORE CLASS:
Please cut all your 80 background squares 6½” x 6½”.
